These draw reins were designed for lunging and strengthening the horse’s back while encouraging them to bend their neck. These draw reins encourage the horse to keep its head down while following its movements. They adapt to the head position to have the same level of tension on either side of the bit.
Best for
Draw reins are recommended for horses that tend to keep their heads high. They can be a good alternative for a young horse you want to train to keep its head lower. Be careful to work your horse “fairly” before using these reins as they can be harmful to horses that aren’t accustomed to them. Not recommended for horses that naturally keep their heads forward and down as they can upset their balance.
Instructions for use
It is important to get your horse properly warmed up and relaxed before using draw reins; if it’s too excited or not warmed up enough, it could end up injured. It is also recommended to use them for short periods of time.
Care advice
Hand wash in soapy water, rinse and dry.
